NOTE: This area of focus falls under Collective Commitment #1 which is subdivided into four areas under Curriculum & Instruction/Student and Community Services. The four areas of focus are Curriculum & Instruction | Student & Community Services | School Safety, Future-Ready Programming, Social-Emotional Learning, STEAM, and Early Childhood Education.
Objective #1
Provide students with innovative instructional practices to make them future-ready.
- Evaluate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) programming and create a K-12 scope and sequence of essential skills that integrate into new and existing curricula and prepare students for success in the digital age.
- Evaluate the integration and expansion of future-ready skills (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking) and data and information literacy into curricula. Investigate measurable ways to determine said integration is being incorporated.
- Create opportunities for students to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) and other extended learning opportunities within the district curricula through summer programs, and before- and after-school activities.
- Evaluate and expand enrichment opportunities for all students in mathematics within the normal classroom setting and the potential of individualized programs of advanced study. (Note: This is different from math acceleration.)
